Cement (SE-007)
In the most general sense of the word, a cement is a binder, a substance which sets and hardens independently, and can bind other materials together. The word "cement" traces to the Romans, who used the term "opus caementicium" to describe masonry which resembled concrete and was made from crushed rock with burnt lime as binder. The volcanic ash and pulverized brick additives which were added to the burnt lime to obtain a hydraulic binder were later referred to as cementum, cimentum and cement. Cements used in construction are characterized as hydraulic or non-hydraulic. The most important use of cement is the production of mortar and concrete, the bonding of natural or artificial aggregates to form a strong building material which is durable in the face of normal environmental effects.
Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC)
OPC is produced by inter-grinding cement clinker prepared in a rotary cement kiln with gypsum. Each metric ton of OPC requires approximately 0.95 metric tons of clinker and approximately 0.05 metric tons of gypsum. Ordinary Portland cement is available in darker shade as well as in light shades in Pak Rock with different brand names to suit the requirement of users. It is used in all general constructions especially in major prestigious projects where cement is to meet stringent quality requirements; it can be used in concrete mortars and grouts etc. Ordinary Portland cement is compatible/consumable with admixture/ retarders etc.
Sulphate Resistant Cement (SRC)
Sulphate resistant Cement's best quality is to provide effective and long lasting strength against sulphate attacks and is very suitable for constructions near sea shores as well as for canals linings. It provides very effective protection against alkali attacks.
Slag Cement
Slag cement is also available for specific user requirements.
Slag cement, has been incorporated into concrete projects for over a century to improve durability and reduce life cycle costs. Among its measurable benefits in concrete are better workability and finish ability, higher compressive and flexural strengths, and improved resistance to aggressive chemicals.
Falcon Cement Quality
The quality of Cement being manufactured and marketed under the brand name of Falcon Cement is of a high standard and surpasses benchmarks not only with Pakistan standards but also the British and American Standard specifications. Quality of Cement is controlled and strictly maintained at every stage from raw material crushing to cement grinding and packaging. Moreover, it comes as no surprise that ACPL has obtained the latest ISO 9001: 2000 certification from the prestigious Lloyds Register Quality Assurance in the year 2002.
Portland Blast Furnace Slag Cement (PBFSC):
Complies with Pakistan Standard PS-1631/1984; British Standard BS-146-1973; and American Standard ASTM C-150 Type IV. PBFSC is used in coastal areas due to resistance to Sulphates and Alkalis. PBFSC is used in massive constructions like Dams/Canals due to its inherent quality of low heat of hydration and expansion factor. Furthermore, lighter colour of the cement ensures decorative use in paints and due to higher fineness greater area can be covered. PBFSC is manufactured from Portland Cement Clinker, Blast Furnace Slag and Gypsum. |
