Sure, there are photographs and text that adorn the glossy pages, like those of a traditional publication, but are the only similarities that can be drawn. Rather than being comprised of staff writers and stock photographers who are given their monthly guidelines and word count, **5 is a theme based magazine where each issue includes individual contributors, artists if you will. Once the theme is certain, photographers are made privy to that information via their website and are given a deadline to submit their works. Rather than selecting photographers based on resumes and pedigree, everyone is encouraged to make their imaginative submissions.
