~The auxiliary electrode is used to derive the current in the forced current protection system, and to form a current loop with the protected body. The auxiliary electrode in the cathodic protection system is usually referred to as the auxiliary anode. The auxiliary electrode in the anode protection system is often referred as the auxiliary cathode.

The auxiliary anodes are mainly divided into two types: the auxiliary anode in the soil environment; the water environment (mainly in the sea water environment).

The strong oxidizing medium generally has strong corrosion resistance, and the auxiliary cathode is working in the condition of the power supply. Therefore, the cathode material has very high electrochemical stability. It has a strong corrosion resistance, and it should have some mechanical processing performance and good electrical conductivity.
