Ecdysterone is extracted from natural plant Cyanotis Arachnoidea. The main composition is *0_Hydroxyecdysone and ecdysone. Beta Ecdysterone is a plant sterol used widely in body building and muscle building. Beta Ecdysterone (*0 Hydroxyecdysterone) is an anabolic plant sterol as well as a non androgenic substance. 

Ecdysterone often used by those in the weightlifting community to lose fat and gain muscle without having to take steroids. In fact, ecdysterone is marketed as a product that produces testosterone in the body without any side effects at all. While the lack of side effects is not accurate, this supplement does have muscle enhancing properties.

Ecdysterone is an insect and crab hormone that is produced in plants to prevent these pests from eating them. When an inset or crab eats a plant with ecdysterone, they will lose weight, get sick and possibly die because it causes their bodies to produce excessive amounts of the hormone.

Ecdysterone is also a plant sterol. Plant sterols are phytosterols and they mimic the type of cholesterol that is found in the human body.
