A Product of the Philippines.  Filipinos took pride to creating Kukui Nut Leis right at their own home.

The Kukui is the state tree of Hawaii and the kukui nuts come from the kukui tree. Another name for the kukui tree is the candlenut tree. It is actually native to southeast Asia. There is evidence that early Polynesian settlers brought kukui trees with them to Hawaii because the nuts were useful. One of its usage was to make light out of Kukui oil. The first candles were made from Kukui trees. When many nuts are tied together, they would burn for many hours and these were known as the first torches. Because of its usage, the kukui tree is said to represent enlightenment, protection, and peace.

Leis are traditional Polynesian necklaces made from flowers or leaves. The kukui nuts are usually made into leis called the kukui nut leis and they were used to be worn by royalty in olden days. The nuts come in black, brown, and white.
