Unique among nephrite jades, Blue Dream Jade® is an incredibly hard, stunningly vibrant blue with moderate translucence and a swirling-to-even, partially chatoyant pattern that takes a superb polish.  A new species of nephrite jade, it is characterized in part by its association with titanite and calcite, rather than the usual diopside or chlorite.  These two minerals lend Blue Dream Jade® its one-of-a-kind color and tenacity.

Blue Dream Jade® also contains vibrant material best categorized as chatoyant.  In the best grades, this chatoyant material has an even, cirrus-cloud-like distribution of shimmering threads floating in the jade's vibrant reflected blue light. The material, which has little to no "grain," retains uniform hardness unlike classic chatoyant jades, and thus can be carved into intricate, yet structurally-reliable forms.

Blue Dream Jade® comes in several varieties, ranging from a "Platinum/Pewter," which shows steely blue insubdued light and shimmering platinum grey in directsunlight, to an even "Powder Blue," a blending of pureblue nephrite and a white, calcite-colored nephrite, to a "Midnight Black," which is primarily composed of an incredibly dark blue-to-black with lighter blue vermiculations throughout. We even find small quantities of a translucent lavender variety.
