day old day old chicks for our broiler chickens.

quality, from the day old chicks, through to packing orders to
suit the weather and distance it is travelling.

Biosecurity
Biosecurity is of utmost importance to Kifaru Poultry
Farm
This is a set of preventative measures designed to minimise the
risk of introducing disease onto our farm. It is the most effective
means of disease control available and some key pointers are:
Access to our farm is strictly controlled and is by appointment
only. It will only be given on certain days depending on what stage
the chickens are at and what other risks there might be.
NO
visitors are not allowed to bring their vehicles onto the farm and
they will be given a set of disposable clothes to wear at all
times, as well as masks and eye protection.
Access to our poultry sheds is very strictly controlled at all
times and only those allocated to work in a certain shed, will be
given access to it. All sheds have foot baths outside and no one
enters without using these and wearing their issued uniforms and
protective wear.
Our chickens become your food and to this end, we will do
everything possible to protect them.
We maintain our standards to comply with those that are in place in
the UK, to ensure that we provide the highest standard of care
possible.
Certification and Marketing
Quality Control is of utmost importance to Kifaru Poultry
Farm
Certification is an important part of Kifarus integration and an
integral link in the company's quality control and traceability
program.
We maintain detailed record-keeping on poultry health, from chick
to full grown chicken.
In addition, Kifaru is compliant with the recommendations and
requirements of all the local statutory and regulatory bodies
including NEMA, KEBS & OHS as well as all professional
veterinary practices.
We also carry out an analysis of feed samples and water samples, to
ensure the best for our chickens, from the farm to the table.
Kifaru chickens are all slaughtered to comply with the Halal
requirements, which are based on Islamic law.
As well as working closely with Kenchic for technical assistance,
we employ a full time local avian veterinarian on our farm, who
understands our flock management program and ensures the welfare of
our chickens.
Environmental Stewardship
Kifaru Poultry Farm, seeks to be a good neighbour and food
producer:

- Dispose of mortalities safely
- Minimise animal and manure

Kifaru Poultry Farm, seeks to maintaining a healthy flock by
providing:
- Vaccination against known diseases
and preventing disease among our flock involves good stewardship
& management.
- Our birds are fed six times daily,
with high quality feed, which contains no artificial colourant,
antibiotics or hormones.
- Lighting patterns are designed to
suit the birds regular daily routine.
- The naturally ventilated hen
houses afford protection against excessive heat and cold, providing
adequate space & ventilation

Meat: Safe Handling
We abide by the following guidelines and suggest that our customers
follow the same:
- We handle all raw poultry
carefully to prevent cross-contamination.
- We chill to *0°F or less within a
specified time after slaughter.
- We keep poultry products cold
(*0°F /
0°C or
below) or frozen (0°F / **8 °C or below) during
transport.
- Raw poultry held at temperature of
0°F / **8
°C or below
must be labelled with a keep frozen handling statement.
- Raw poultry has a very short
refrigerator shelf life and should be frozen, or cooked within two
days of purchase.
Product Offering
We specialise in whole-bird production, but we are able to offer a
limited range of other items, such as gizzards, liver and legs if
required.
We typically produce chicken from 1.2kg to 1.4kg, but we can offer
larger one by special order.
