The D-α-Aminoadipic acid (DAAA) is produced as pure enantiomer in industrial quantities. It has the stereoisomeric D-configuration, in contrast to the other natural occurring amino acids. A number of chemical transformations can be carried out with the two carboxylic groups and the amino group. Because of its special properties, the DAAA can be used for a number of high-value applications.
