Diamond is called Vaira in Sanskrit, Almas in Persian and Diamond in English. In the present age, diamond had acquired top position because it is brightest stone. Bodys perspiration also does not diminish the brightness. Other precious stones are affected by it.

Diamond is the hardest of all the gems. It is said to be a product of carbon. There are diverse changes constantly going on under the surface of the earth which we cannot see. There are many kinds of clay. Diamond does not suffer scratch. But due to its hardness, it is very brittle. Diamond is made of level crusts. Owing to hardness, the diamond cannot be cut by other metal. First of all, only Indian Craftsman developed a technique of preparing the attractive gems by rubbing the diamond with the pieces of diamond. Today it is the developed form of perfection called as Brilliant Cut of Belgium.
