        FA  Alcohol based Foundry Coatings have many excellent properties. Suitable for a variety of foundry coating applications.

1. FA Alcohol based Foundry Coatings are available in various formulations for resin bonded, sodium silicate-bonded and clay-bonded sand moulds etc., and suitable for production of various metal castings.

a)         Excellent thixotropy and levelling properties, leaving no brush marks.

b)        Good suspension stability, easy use and application.

c)         Low gas evolution, reducing casting porosity defects.

d)        Easy to ignite and burn off resulting in a high strength coating with no cracks or blistering.

e)         Reduces sand grain pick-up, good surface finish, easy to clean.

 Using guide

1.   Coating density and viscosity should be adjusted by solvent content to match the application method, for alcohol based coating, alcohol thinner is used, and for water based coating, clean water is used.  Over dilution reduces suspension stability and brushing properties of coating.

2.   Coating should be mixed thoroughly. In most cases, one brushed application should be sufficient; however, two coats may be needed for larger castings or for specific areas where sand burn-on or metal penetration occurs.  After applying the alcohol based coating, it should be ignited immediately, otherwise lite-off and proper burning may become difficult. In case of difficult burning due to excessive penetration, the coating should be baked using a blowtorch. After applying water coating, the mould and core should be baked well.

3.   Suitable for all application methods: brushing, dipping, spraying, and flow coating.
