T.C.I FRP Cooling Tower
Overview:
The primary task of a
cooling tower is to reject heat into
the atmosphere. This heat rejection is accomplished through
the natural process of evaporation that takes place when air and
water are brought into direct contact in the
cooling
tower. The evaporation is most efficient when the maximum
water surface area is exposed to the maximum flow of air, for the
longest possible period of time.
Cooling towers are designed in two different
configurations,
counterflow and
crossflow. The
specific configuration
indicates the direction of air flow through the tower relative to
the direction of the water flow.
Cooling tower water
and air distribution systems are designed in concert, with each
play
ing an equally important role in determining the
efficiency and proper application of the cooling
tower.
What is FRP
Fibre Reinforced Plastic.Nothing but glass fibre
bonded with resin. Glass fibre in the range of *1 microns multiple
fibres are joined together and are available in the form of mat of
various densities. These glass fibres are oriented in all
directions. The mat is bonded together with polyester resin,
accelerator and catalyst.
FRP Cooling Tower Features:
- High Strength: Double stronger than steel yet weighs about *0%
less.
- Chemical Resistance: When treated with appropriate resins,
composites with outstanding resistance to chemicals can be
developed. The glass fibre resists attack from most chemicals.
- Compatibility: Accepts different types of sizes enabling it to
be compatible with many synthetic resins as well as mineral
matrices like cement, plaster etc.
- Part Consolidation: Composite materials of glass fibre can be
used to produce one piece part which integrates several functions
and thus replacing several other assemblies.
- Durability: Does not degrade, or deteriorates as insects or
rodents can not attack them.
- Fatigue Life: Exhibits very good fatigue properties and can
undergo very long cyclic loads without fatigue.
- Incombustible: Being a mineral material is neither combustible
nor supports combustion. When exposed to heat, it neither emits
smoke nor toxic gases.
- Inherent resistance to microbiological attack, corrosion and
erosion.
- Acceptable cost level.
- The capability of plastics to be molded into single parts of
complete shape and dimensions is a distinct advantage.
