• Consists of single mesh panel made of hexagonal woven wire mesh type *0
• Commonly referred to as double twist wire mesh
• Filled with rocks at project site to form flexible, permeable and monolithic structures
• Used for emergency and river training works where local conditions require speed
• Used in the manufacture of sack gabions
• 0.5mm nominal thickness PVC coating is extruded over the galvanized wire to provide added protection
• End of mesh: edged with steel rods inserted during the manufacturing process to allow for faster closing during installation
• Gabions are rectangular steel wire mesh baskets to be filled with stones
• Each gabion is usually divided into cells by wire mesh panels called diaphragms to strengthen them
• Usually used for sea and lake shore protection, river training, erosion control, soil retention, and road and railway constructions
• Coatings are heavily galvanized zinc (following international standards)
• For high corrosion resistance, PVC-coated wire and Galfan are available
• Wire thickness: 2 to 4mm
• Mesh sizes: 6 x 8, 8 x *0 and *0 x *2cm
