Kaolin is a naturally occurring mineral in many countries it's main composition being mainly Aluminium silicate as we other metalic components in smaller quantities. It is a soft white clay also known as China Clay. It's main use is  in pottery or ceramics and also as a filler and extender in paints, coating, ink, pigments, paper, rubber, plastic etc.

In paper, it gives body, colour, opacity and printability In the coating industry it is used along with adhesive to impart higher gloss, colour, higher opacity and printability. Because of its properties, Kaolin can also be used as a partial replacement for Titanium dioxide in the manufacture of paint, pigment and plastic industry.

The quality of Kaolin is decided by it's composition of unwanted metallic impurities. For the paint industry, there is a special grade of Kaolin which helps impart added gloss to the final product.

In rubber, kaolin is used to increase the mechanical strength as well as the abrasion  of the final product
