Metallization involves
the application of a thin layer of aluminium to a film
substrate. The process
takes place inside a chamber, where heated aluminium is evaporated
onto the film as it is unwound and then rewound at high speed in a
vacuum. The result is a film that is not only visually more
attractive but also considerably more resistant to oxygen and water
vapour transmission.Metallised film is used in a wide variety of
food packaging applications where either high barrier or striking
appearance is required for example in crisp packing (BOPP), bread
wrap (PE) or sweets (CPP).  Â
