Unrefined Organic Shea Butter from Pameri is produced from an edible nut from the Karite tree found in Uganda, East Africa which produces the finest and smoothest quality Shea butter. It is hygienically Cold Pressed. NOT hand made.

Ugandan Shea comes from the sub-species Vitellaria Nilotica, which has a higher oleic content compared with the West African's Vitellaria paradoxica. This makes the Shea butter from Uganda, more liquid at room temperature. This consistency is particularly suitable for cosmetics products such as creams and lotions. This quality attribute may have considerable commercial value as the new growth markets in “natural products” requires that the original product is used in its unrefined state. The cream-colored butter offers an exceptionally light, smoky aroma and retains medicinal properties. The rich, creamy texture and high content of essential fatty acids (Vitamin F) and Vitamin A & E make the butter a superb moisturizer. It can be used on skin and hair. This Shea Butter has a long shelf life of *2 to *4 months if stored in a cool, dry environment.

Organic Nilotica Shea Butter (Vitellaria nilotica) is produced in Northern Uganda. It is far superior in texture, nutritive value and aroma than shea butter produced in West Africa. Nilotica Shea offers a significantly higher content of olein, a glyceride of oleic acid. Organic Nilotica Shea Butter is softer and creamier than West African Shea Butter, and it is more readily absorbed into the skin and hair. This butter also possesses a lighter, more pleasant aroma than West African Shea Butter. 

While the nilotica subspecies of the shea tree (Vitellaria paradoxa subspecies nilotica) is found only in the eastern part of the range – Uganda, South Sudan and Ethiopia – the Ugandan variety is very distinct in its composition, being much softer and smoother, with a gentler scent than the Sudanese or Ethiopian varieties. The Ugandan variety is also genetically unique, as proven by recent studies carried out by the French research institute CIRAD from ***8 to ***3.
