It is a colorless or white, somewhat translucent, hard wax consisting of a mixture of solid straight-chain hydrocarbons with a melting point ranging from about *8°C to *0°C (**0°F to **8°F). Paraffin wax is obtained from petroleum by waxing light lubricating oil stocks.

Usage areas

It is used in many sectors, especially in candles, wax paper, varnishes, cosmetics, rubber and rubber, medical and pharmaceutical products, building materials and electrical insulators. It helps to remove perfume from flowers, forms a basis for medicinal ointments and provides a waterproof coating for wood. In wood and paper matches, easily evaporating hydrocarbon fuel helps ignite the matchstick.
