Composition:
Contains per ml suspension:
**0.**0 i.u. Procaine Penicillin G and **0 mg Dihydrostreptomycin sulphate.
Description:
Penicillin G has bactericidal activity against gram-positive microorganisms, procaine added to reduce pain associated with intramuscular injection. Streptomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic with bactericidal activity against gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria. Penicillin and aminoglycoside combinations have a synergistic effect.
Indications:
Bacterial infections in horses, cattle, calves, pigs, sheep, goats, dogs and cats, caused by microorganisms susceptible to penicillin and streptomycin.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to procaine, penicillins, cephalosporins (or analogues), or aminoglycosides. Animals with seriously impaired kidney function. Infections caused by penicillinase-producing microorganisms.
Dosage and administration:
For intramuscular or subcutaneous (dog and cat) administration. Shake well before use.
The general recommended dose is:
Large animals: 1.5 ml per *0 kg bodyweight per day.
Small animals: 1.5 ml per *0 kg bodyweight per day.
Side effects:
Hypersensitivity reactions. Procaine penicillin G can cause abortion in sows. Aminoglycosides can cause ototoxicity, nephrotoxicity or neurotoxicity.
Interactions: Do not combine with bacteriostatic antibiotics.
Precautions and warnings:
Strict intramuscular injection!
Do not combine with other nephrotoxic drugs or general anaesthetics. Use only in pregnant animals if the benefits outweigh the risks.
Withdrawal times:
Meat: *0 days
Milk: 4 days.
Storage conditions: Store dark and below *5  C. Do not freeze.
