Properties: NaSCN,a white rhombic system crystal, is soluble in water, ethanol, acetone; Relative density is 1.**5. Melts at approx.**7℃. decomposes on heating and under influence of light producing toxic fumes of sulfur oxides,nitrogen oxides and cyanides. Reacts violently with acids,strong bases and strong oxidants.

Application: Sodium thiocyanate is used for metal ore flotation, as accelerator for cement or concrete; spinning solvent for polyacrylonitrile and carbon fiber, as raw materials  for pharmaceuticals  and pesticide such as Methylene Bis Thiocyanate(MBT) and Erythromycin thiocyanate, for electroplating ,photography, etc.
