Tapered roller bearings are separable bearings. The inner ring and outer ring of tapered roller bearing are both with tapered raceway. According to the rows of rollers, there are single row, double row and four row tapered roller bearings. Single row tapered roller bearings can bear radial load and axial load in one direction.
The axial load capacity of single row tapered roller bearings depends on the contact angle. The bigger angle of outer ring raceway, the greater axial load capacity. The single row tapered roller bearings are the most widely used. In the front wheel hub of cars, some small size double row tapered roller bearings are also used. Four row tapered roller bearings are usually used in large cold and hot rolling mills and the other heavy machines.
