In the year ***1, the first transformer come to the world, after hundred years development, transformer has been the necessary parts of our life, generally speaking, transformer is used for power transmission, industrial production, hotel, airport, great building, anywhere, we must use transformer to make our daily life more convenient. Even your mobile phone charger, it contains a small transformer.. Radio, CD player, rechargeable shavers, rechargeable electric tool, are containing transformer.
Transformer has two key parts: Laminated steel sheet and coil. Generally, Laminated steel sheet is made by Grain Oriented electrical silicon steel (GOES), and the coil is made by metal tape or metal wire covered with insulation material.

Metal tape or metal wire are winding material, now, the metals are copper and aluminium. It means copper tape and aluminium tape, copper wire and aluminium wire are the major winding material for transformer.

Considering copper price is higher than aluminium price, hence,  more and more transformer producer are trying to use aluminium instead of copper, however, aluminium conductivity and smelting point are lower than copper, for some important projects, the project developers still prefer  to  copper  tape  or  copper  wire  as  winding  material,  but  more  and  more  transformer producers will choose aluminium as winding material since it has lower cost.

Aluminium foil and aluminium tape, nowadays, are the major winding material for transformer, especially used in dry type transformer.
