Application:
H*1 is an excellent choice for a wide range of hot work and
cold work applications. It has excellent nondeforming
properties,and is used for hot shell punches,mandrels,and
applications where resistance to splitting or cracking is
desirable.
Machinability:
H*1 has a machinability rating of *0 compared to a 1% carbon
tool steel which is rated at **0.
Annealing:
Heat slowly to ***0°F for one hour per inch of thickness. Cool
*5°per hour to ***0°F and air cool. For surface protection an
atmosphere furnace or stainless foil wrap must be used. The
annealed hardness of H*1 should be **7 Brinell maximum.
