From our grandmothers to today
Women in our family have been making soap literally for centuries, for their families. Descendants of Sparta, Mani and Kalamata olive oil plantation owners, we always were involved in soap making.
Today, we carry on the tradition and move it to professional
production, but still using the same olive trees and extra virgin
olive oil, as then, for our soaps. Quality has even improved now,
since we use the cold method to produce our soaps. This means, no
boiling of the oils. This way, the nutritive elements of our oils
remain in our soap and to add to that, all the natural glycerin
is retained also. Big industries use the hot method and boil
their soap because this allows them to produce huge amounts of
bars and most importantly, they can separate the soaps glycerin
and then sell it separately to cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and
other companies for extra profit.
One thing which separates our soaps even from other
handmade soap producers is that, we use exclusively and ONLY
extra virgin olive oil, and in fact at a rate of **5%.
This means that we put 5% more olive oil than the amount
necessary to produce soap.This extra 5% of
precious olive oil, treats the skin very tenderly, and
nourishes as it is being deeply cleansed. It does not stain or
give oily effect. Just smooth, supple skin…
