Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid, VC), also known as ascorbic acid, is a vitamin that human body cannot produce on its own. It plays, however, an important role in the metabolism of human body and physiological function regulation and is one of the essential nutrients for the living of humans.

For a long time, researchers have made much effort in seeking the pharmaceutical functional mechanism of Vitamin C and found that besides its usage for treating scurvy, it also plays a role in helping formation of collagen in the tissues, protecting the active SH base of enzyme, participating in metabolism of tyrosine and the formation of adrenocortical hormones, as well as promoting the production of antibody and the absorption of iron in the body.
