They prefer a deep well drained sandy to clay soil. Plant this palm in full sun. The palm needs winter conditions. In tropical areas most palms will die. The winepalm tolorates dry and for some time moist and rainy conditions. Is not suited for planting in beach areas where salt water can spray over the tree. The 1 cm small seeds take a long time to germinate. Best is using a heat mat and moist soil. Germination can take from two months to over one year.
