Ship loaders are large bulk material machines used for loading at
bulk material terminals. Generally, ship loaders are composed of
arm belt conveyors, transition belt conveyors, telescopic chutes,
tail cars, running devices, gantry, towers, pitch devices, slewing
devices, and slewing devices.
Ship loaders can be divided into track loaders, telescopic loaders,
swing loaders, fixed loaders, bulk loaders, and arc swing loaders
according to the use method, as shown in Figure 1. Large port bulk
material loading equipment plays an important role in the
high-speed, stable, efficient, and rolling development of some
large bulk material distribution centers in the energy, power,
metallurgy, and ports industries. Ship loaders are usually
continuous loading operations. Therefore, there must be matching
equipment to provide continuous material flow so that the ship
loader can load continuously. Such as feeding grain silos at grain
terminals and continuous feeding of bucket wheel reclaimers in the
material yard of coal terminals.
The development of global trade integration has promoted the demand
for bulk transportation worldwide. From the perspective of major
commodities, the seaborne volume of bulk cargoes such as iron ore,
coal, and grain has increased rapidly. Accompanying this
development is the continuous renewal of ocean-going bulk cargo
transport ships. What follows is the demand for bulk cargo loading
and unloading equipment for the construction of large ports that
can dock and unload these large ships. The increase in the size of
bulk cargo ships also poses new challenges to the design and
manufacture of bulk cargo loading and unloading equipment.
According to the development trend of bulk cargo automation, some

Automation
Dry bulk cargo terminals have different characteristics of cargo to
be loaded and unloaded, and there are many types of ships. In
addition, the operating environment is relatively harsh when
affected by bulk cargo dust, and there are more stringent
requirements for detection equipment and technology. Therefore, the
current bulk cargo loading system has a low degree of automation
and basically relies on manual on-site operation. On the one hand,
the use of on-site manual operation will endanger the physical and
mental health of on-site workers due to the harsh working
conditions (high temperature, high dust, high noise, etc.) of bulk
cargo terminals. On the other hand, due to the harsh working
conditions and long-term cargo loading, it is very easy to cause
worker fatigue and cause accidents during loading. In addition, due
to manual loading, the operation process will be irregular and
unscientific. For example, to avoid collision, the chute is
suspended above the cabin, causing dust and cargo loss. Since
berths are scarce resources at the terminal, the loading process of
bulk cargo terminals has become one of the bottlenecks restricting
bulk cargo logistics, and an automated loading system is urgently
needed. Therefore, one of the development trends of ship loaders in
the future is the degree of automation.
Large-scale
Large-scale loading equipment accounts for an increasing
proportion. At present, the productivity of ore loaders in the
world is as high as *0,**0t/h, and the outreach is suitable for
**0,***-ton ships.
Specialization
The different transport materials (such as coal, ore, cement,
grain, fertilizer, etc.) make the design of loading equipment more
and more specialized, such as explosion-proof, anti-corrosion,
dust-proof, and anti-pollution design requirements, and the design
standards are becoming more and more perfect. Foreign companies
select fixed rotary, mobile rotary, and mobile non-rotary models
according to the actual working conditions of materials, terminals,
and ship types, and put forward an overall plan. The models used in
my country are limited to mobile rotary and mobile non-rotary.
Environmental protection
Environmental protection is the premise of development. The
development and application of effective methods such as mechanical
seals, water mist dust suppression, air flow guidance or blocking,
and the setting of an independently operated dust-proof aggregate
system have become one of the research topics in the design of
modern ship loaders. For example, the popularization and
application of tubular belt conveyors, fully enclosed structures,
and dust-proof chutes have greatly improved the dust-proof effect.
