AU-PEA**0 Starch Conversion Enzyme Papermaking is the largest non-food application for starches worldwide, consuming millions of metric tons yearly. A typical sheet of copy paper may contain either chemically modified or unmodified starch content as high as 8%. The word "starch" is derived from Middle English 'sterchen', meaning to stiffen. Starch or Amylum, from the Greek "amulon" meaning "not ground at a mill" is a carbohydrate consisting of a large number of glucose units joined together by glycosidic bonds. Pure starch is a white, tasteless and odorless powder that is insoluble in cold water or alcohol. It consists of two types of molecules: the linear and helical amylose and the branched amylopectin. Depending on the plant, starch generally contains about *0 to *5% amylose and *5 to *0% amylopectin. It is used as a thickening, stiffening or gluing agent and it is used in both "wet-end” and "dry-end" operations in paper making to provide strength and superior printing quality to paper. WHAT IS AU-PEA**0? AU-PEA**0 is a amylase based starch conversion enzyme derived from the submerged fermentation of Bacillus subtilis. It is mainly used in the pulp and paper making industry as a starch modifying agent and is applicable to various kinds of paper pulp. Most surface sizing agents in paper making today are usually oxidized starch. The main disadvantage of traditional method of modifying oxidized-starch are high cost, difficultiy in controlling oxidation and environment pollution among others. QUALITY GUARANTEE: Quality of AU-PEA**0 is guaranteed for 6 months APPLICATION & DOSAGE: Add AU-PEA**0 at the rate of 0.**0.5 U/g together with calcium (Ca2+) at a concentration of *0ppm to *0ppm. However, for best results, the dosage should be determined and decided through experiments according to the real objective conditions. PACKAGING: AU-PEA**0 is packaged at *5 kg. in fibre drum. Alternative packaging for smaller or larger quantity is available upon request. STORAGE: Store in a cool, dry place and away from direct sunlight. Storage at *5°C maintains its potency even after three months. In lower temperature, the activity of the product will last even longer. It should not however be frozen. Keep out of reach of children. HANDLING: AU-PEA**0 is non-toxic and biodegradable. However, unnecessary contact with the product should be avoided.
