Description

STARLENE™ – Polypropylene Sutures STARLENE™ – Polypropylene is a non-absorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of a synthetic linear polyolefin. STARLENE™ – Polypropylene is dyed blue to enhance visibility in the body. STARLENE™ – Polypropylene elicits a minimal acute inflammatory reaction in the tissue, followed by gradual encapsulation of the suture by fibrous tissue. Unlike absorbable, and some non absorbable sutures, STARLENE™ – Polypropylene is not affected or weakened by tissue enzymes. Thus, STARLENE™ – Polypropylene is not subject to any degradation or loss of tensile strength. Due to its monofilament composure, STARLENE™ – Polypropylene resists involvement in infection. Moreover, STARLENE™ – Polypropylene has been successfully implemented in contaminated and previously infected wounds.
