The required quality of edge-glued panels dictates the choice of raw material and can vary from complete length of wood to finger-jointed lengths in a variety of different raw material qualities. Edge-glued panels can be produced in a wide variety of hardwood types as well as in pine. Edge-glued panels are sometimes combined with other materials in order to achieve specific material properties. The most common example of this is edge-glued pine panels combined with either MDF or HDF.
