Used in Spanish, Múcura, Carricillo wild grass of the hens, japachumi branch of skunk, skunk, skunk wild (Martinez, ***9). Elsewhere in Latin America is often called anamú, skunk or garlic herb. Rzedowski and Rzedowski (***0) also report the names of scorpion tail, epazote of skunk, arlomo grass, cat's claw herb and skunk.

Medicinal properties are attributed anti-inflammatory, anticancer, analgesic, immunostimulatory and hypoglycaemic. It can cause abortions in humans and animals.   Immunostimulant, anti-inflammatory, antitumor:
Several clinical studies have demonstrated antileukemic and antitumor action, probably due to its inmunostimulantes. In a ***3 study, an aqueous extract of this plant showed that stimulates the production of lymphocytes and interleukin 2 in mice. Another year study in mice showed that the extract of Anamu increases the activity of NK (Natural Killer) by **0% and stimulates production of interferon, interleukin 2 and interleukin 4. More recent research also shows immunostimulatory properties of Anamu.
