Attapulgite rheology
modifier
Attapulgite rheology modifier is made of attapulgite clay,
attapulgite is hydrous magnesium aluminum silicate with gelling and
rheological properties used to thicken and stabilize aqueous
systems. Can be used alone or in conjunction with associative
thickener where a low shear thixotrope is needed to support the
high shear thixotropy of the associative thickener.
Characteristics & application:
I. In water based paint, alcohol and other solvent system, to
thicken and stabilize aqueous systems. In accordance with the
production process of formulation, the input amount is about
0.5%*3%.
II. In water based coating, the product is usually added at
the end of pigment-grind step, in solvent based systems, the
surfactant should be added.
III. Typical applications: paint, coating, cement slurry,
joint tape compound, putty.
