SUMMARY:

Hepatitis E virus (HEV) is a non-enveloped, single- stranded RNA virus identified in ***0. Infection with HEV induces
acute or sub-clinical liver diseases similar to hepatitis A. HEV infections, endemic and frequently epidemic indeveloping countries, is seen also in developed countries in a sporadic form with or without a history of traveling toendemic area. The overall case-fatality is 0.5~3%, and much higher (*5~*5%) among pregnant women. A hypothesisthat HEV infection is a zoonosis was presented in ***5. Then a swine HEV and later an avian HEV were identifiedand sequenced separately in ***7 and ***1. Since then, HEV infection include anti-HEV, viremia and fecesexcretion of HEV was seen in a wide variety of animals, i.e., swine, rodents, wild monkeys, deer, cow, goats, dogsand chicken in both the developing and developed countries. A direct testimony was reported that the consumption ofuncooked deer meat infected with HEV led to acute hepatitis E in human. And HEV genome sequences can bedetected in pork livers available in the supermarkets in Japan.

Principle of the Test

The quick onestep test utilizes a sandwich immunochromatographic detection assay platform If HEV antibody is present in the sample in concentration above the limit, a labeled antigen-dye complex will be formed. This complex is then captured by antibody immobilized in the Test Zone of the membrane, producing a visible pinkrose color band on the membrane. The color intensity will depend on the concentration of HEV antibody present in the sample. 

STORAGE 

The pouched Cassette should be stored at 4~*0°C in the sealed condition away from direct sunlight before expiration date.

PROCEDURE 

1. Open a pouch containing a cassette, lay the cassette.

2. Drop *5ul(3 drops)sample onto the sample well.

3. Read results within *5 minutes.
