Introduction to Green Silicon Carbide:
Silicon carbide is mainly classified into black silicon carbide and green silicon carbide. Silicon carbide, also known as carborundum, is the most widely used and most economical non-oxide hi-tech refractory materials among current C, N and B nonoxide refractory materials. It is also known as fire sand.Green silicon carbide is smelted mainly with petroleum coke and high-quality silica as raw materials in resistance furnace, with edible salt added as the additive; it is green, with high hardness, good cutting capacity, stable chemical properties and good heat conductivity. It is of high purity and fragile, with the micro hardness of *********0 kg/mm2. The abrasive tools made from green silicon carbide are applicable to processing materials with great hardness and high fragility. Its hardness is between corundum and diamond, and its mechanical strength is higher than corundum. Green silicon carbide is mainly used in grinding hard metal-bearing tools. Green silicon carbide contains over *9% SiC, with good self-sharpening ability; is mostly used in processing hard alloys, titanium alloy and optical glass; it is also used to grind cylinder sleeve and precisely grinding of high-speed steel knives.
Application Scope of Green Silicon Carbide:
Green silicon carbide can be used as bonded abrasive products and coated abrasive products, and for free grinding and polishing. It is applicable to processing cast iron, hard alloys, titanium alloy, high-speed steel etc., or grinding non-metallic materials such as glass, ceramics, stones, agate, high-level jewelry and jadeware, or heating elements and heat components; and hard and fragile non-metallic materials including hard alloys, optical glass, agate and ceramics. It can also be used to make high-class refractory materials, electric heating elements and electric elements. Additionally, there is cubic silicon carbide which is yellowish green crystal produced with special process and can be used to make grinding tools applicable for fine processing of bearings, making the surface roughness decrease from Ra****0.*6um to Ra0.****0.*2 um by primary processing.
