Grain oriented steel is 3% silicon-iron alloys developed with a grain orientation to provide very low power loss and high permeability in the rolling direction, for high efficiency transformers.
Non oriented fully processed steel is iron-silicon alloys with varying silicon contents and have similar magnetic properties in all directions in the plan of the sheet.
