Description

Quinoa is a grain crop that grows in the Andean region of South America(Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador). Quinoa has many health benefits. Quinoa contains essential amino acids that converts it in a complete protein.

Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa) was first domesticated by Andean tribes around ***0 years ago. Revered for its nutritional value, the Incas referred to it as the mother of all grains, and it is indeed a nutritional powerhouse. In fact, it is one of the very few plant-based sources containing high amounts of protein and all of the essential amino acids that the body needs. Since it contains all of the essential amino acids, it is considered a complete protein. Not only does it a high-quality of protein compared to other plant-based sources, but it also has an essential amino acid balance that is rare in food form. Although quinoa is often mistakenly referred to as a grain, it is actually a pseudo cereal because it is neither a member of the grass family nor a true cereal.

Quinoa Sprouts are extremely high in B Vitamins like B6 and B*2, and contain abundant amounts of iron, calcium, fiber, and phosphorus. Quinoa is slowly becoming more prominent in the western marketplace, so luckily we can begin to appreciate this pseudo cereal for all of its nutritional value as well as its biodiversity.
