LDPE (Low-density polyethylene)

Description

LDPE (high density polyethylene) resins are made by high pressure autoclave process and mainly used for blown film extrusion and insulation wire/cable coating, such as shrink film, liners, packing film, garbage bags, agricultural film, multi-layer and cable sheath etc.

LDPE (the first grade of polyethylene) is a thermoplasticmade from the monomerethylene. It contains the chemical elements carbon and hydrogen. It is characterized by its short and long chain branching which gives it good clarity and processability although it does not have the strength properties of the other PEs. So, its intermolecular forces are weaker, its tensile strength is lower, and its resilienceis higher. Also, since its molecules are less tightly packed and less crystalline because of the side branches, its densityis lower.
