What is L-CITRULLINE?

What does L-CITRULLINE do?
 
During intense exercise, muscles produce compounds called IMP (inosine monophosphate), lactic acid and ammonia that can accumulate in the muscles and cause fatigue.
 
Unconverted ammonia is toxic to the liver, but L-CITRULLINE helps the body deposit ammonia into the mitochondria of the liver cells where it is channelled through the kidneys and excreted.
