Matrine is one of alkaloids in root of Sophora Flavescens Ait (Radix Sophorae Flavescentis) and root of Sophora subprostrata Chun et T.Chen , (Radix Sophorae Tonkinensis), in which, There are a lot of alkaloids, but the matrine and oxymatrine has a big percentage. The pure matrine is a white powder, odourless, bitter and it has hygroscopicity then turn light yellow color.
Function: Matrine has many functions in both Clinical medicine and farming. On Clinical medicine, Matrinehas a variety of pharmacological effects, including anti-cancer effects and action as a kappa opioid receptor and μ-receptor agonist. Matrine possesses strong antitumor activities in vitro and in vivo. Inhibition of cell proliferation and induction of apoptosis are the likely mechanisms responsible for matrine\'s antitumor activities.
