Divinylbenzene

Description

Divinyl benzene has two vinyl groups with rich reactivity, can generate three-dimensional insoluble polymer. Therefore, it is an important cross-linker. It is widely used in the manufacture of ion exchange resins, unsaturated polyester resins, ABS resins, polystyrene resins and modified styrene butadiene rubber and it is also used as the cross-linker for copolymerization of styrene, butadiene, acrylonitrile, methyl methacrylate and also for polymerization of acrylic acid ester emulsion. The said ion exchange resins may be used to soften hard water, produce pure water, extract salt from seawater, refine amino acid and antibiotics, decolorize glucose and granulated sugar, and remove metal ions from wastewater. It is also used as the modifier for the above resins to improve the resin resistance to heat, impact, friction and stainability, and improve the strength, transparency and refractive index. Usually the higher the content of the p-divinyl benzene , the better the performance of the resin produced. Furthermore, it
is also used for wood processing and production of flame retardants.
