Spherical thrust roller bearings also called spherical roller
thrust bearings have specially designed raceways and barrel-shaped
rollers (convex rollers). The raceway of housing washer of this
bearing type is spherical with the center of the radius located on
the bearing axis. Spherical thrust roller bearings are separable
design, making it possible to mount and dismount the housing washer
separately from the shaft washer and roller and cage assembly, as
well as maintenance inspections. The design provides self-
alignment capability to the bearing, some shaft misalignment can be
tolerated. The Contact angle is approximately *5° enabling the
bearing to support high axial load and radial load up to *5% of
axial load. They are suitable for relatively high speeds. The
bearings have pressed steel cages or machined brass cages. Because
of the large load capacity and self-aligning characteristics,
