Electrodeionization (EDI) technology is the integration of electrodialysis and ion exchange technology, through the anion and cation exchange membrane selective through the effect of anion and cation and ion exchange resin of ion exchange, under the action of dc field, realize the directional migration of ions, thus complete the depth of the water desalination, dissociation of water and electricity at the same time produce hydrogen ions and hydroxyl ions on ion exchange resin regeneration, so there is no need to acid and alkali chemical regeneration and can continuously producing ultrapure water.
1. After the water produced by RO enters the EDI module, it is
evenly distributed to the fresh water chamber.
2. The trace ions of RO membrane that have not been removed are
adsorbed on the surface of the membrane by the ion-exchange resin
in the fresh water chamber.
3. Direct current is applied to the electrodes at both ends of the
EDI module to drive the anion ions in the fresh water chamber to
migrate to the corresponding electrodes to the concentrated water
chamber, so as to produce high pure water.
4. Under the action of electric field, water molecules are
dissociated into H+ and OH- in a large number, so the ion-exchange
resin is continuously regenerated.
