We offer **0% Raw Organic Shea Butter . Shea butter exhibits
several health benefits particularly for the skin and hair. It is
used in a variety of cosmetics and medicinal formulas in
combination with other botanical ingredients
What is Shea butter?
Shea butter is a fat extracted from the nuts of the
African Shea (Villalla Paradox). When born, it is usually yellow,
unrefined, refined and super refined shea butter is ivory or white.
Shea butter is a triglyceride (fat) derived mainly from stearic
acid and oleic acid. It is widely used in cosmetics as a humectant,
salve or lotion. Shea butter is edible and is used in food
preparation in some African countries.
The composition and nature of Shea butter:
Shea butter extract is a complex fat that contains the
following fatty acids in addition to many unsaponifiable components
(substances that can not be completely converted to soap by alkali
treatment): oleic acid (****0%), stearic acid %), Linoleic acid
(***1%), palmitic acid (**9%), linolenic acid (<1%) and
arachidic acid (<1%).
Shea butter melts at body temperature. People who
support skin care believe that it is quickly absorbed into the skin
and has good water binding properties
Application of Shea butter:
(1)Shea butter is mainly used in the cosmetic industry for skin and
hair-related products (lip gloss, skin moisturizers and lotions,
dry hair and fragile hair).
(2)It is also used by soap manufacturers, usually in small amounts
(**7% oil in the formulation) because it contains a large amount of
unsaponifiable matter, while higher amounts produce softer, cleaner
detergents. Some handmade soap makers use shea butter at *5% - the
highest adjustment for the European Union is
about *8%, although this is rare in commercially produced soaps.
This is a good skin dry emollient. There is no evidence that this
is a cure, but it relieves the pain associated with itching.
(3)In some African countries, shea butter is used as an ingredient
in edible oils, waterproofing waxes, beauty salons, candle making
and medicinal ointments. Traditional African percussion maker use
it to increase the durability of wood (such as carved African drum
shells), dry hoists and leather tuning tapes.
