Because there are two functional groups in GMA molecule, active
vinyl group and epoxy group with ionic reaction, which can be
polymerized by functional group or ionic reaction, GMA can be used
to modify vinyl polymer and polycondensation polymer. GMA can
intervene in polymerization in three ways. One is to make epoxy
group on branch chain during ethylene polymerization, namely "O"
polymer [2]; The second is epoxy ring opening, which makes vinyl on
the branch chain, namely "V" polymer [3]; The third is that the
compounds with active hydrogen react with GMA to form a chain on
the epoxy group. Using any of the above three methods, the polymer
is modified during polymerization. In terms of coatings, the
addition of GMA can improve the hardness, glossiness, adhesion and
weather resistance of the film, and can be used for acrylic
coatings, acrylate coatings, alkyd resin coatings, vinyl chloride
resins and some water-based coatings. It is used for adhesives and
non-woven fabrics. When it is used for acrylic emulsion, it can
improve its adhesion to metal, glass, cement, polyfluoroethylene,
etc; When the non-woven fabric is used for synthesizing latex, its
washing resistance is improved without affecting the hand feeling.
When it is used in the processing of synthetic resin materials, it
can improve the spray formability, extrusion formability, and
obviously improve the adhesion between resin and metal. It is used
for synthetic fibers. For fibers with poor dyeing, it can improve
their dyeing strength, color fastness, wrinkle and shrink
resistance. This product can improve the sensitivity, resolution
and corrosion resistance of photosensitive resin. Grafting with
polyolefin can improve tensile strength and bending strength. In
addition, the product can also be used as the raw material of ion
exchange resin, chelating resin, medical selective filtration
membrane, anti coagulant, dental material, and insoluble adsorbent.
It is also used for rubber modification.
