Black Wolf Chaga

Wild chaga harvested from the Alaskan backcountry, Middle Tanana Valley old-growth forest. Cut into 1 - 2 cubic inch chunks and fan dried to *5% moisture. Sustainably harvested on skis or foot. Clean, no bark.

Great for making tea. It's not a powder. It's not a pill. It's not in a little tea bag. It looks like chaga. You know exactly what you're getting: meticulously cleaned and well dried chaga mushrooms cut into convenient sized chunks.

A golf-ball-sized piece will brew about *0 pots of tea. Just steep the chaga in hot water until you get the desired color and potency. Chaga's mild flavor is clean, earthy, woody and non-bitter. I cut the chaga mushrooms before drying to make brewing tea easier. Once it's dry, it's hard, brittle and difficult to cut. Most pieces have some of the extra-potent black outer rind attached to the corky, creamy-brown interior mycelium of the mushroom. Extra care is taken to keep the outer rind clean and in-tact while harvesting. Keeping the chaga clean is also made easier by the fact that it is harvested during the winter, (when the chaga is also said to be the most potent,) and the forest is frozen and blanketed in snow. Imagine chaga mushrooms pried from birch trees with a sharp hatchet, and falling into the virgin snow on the floor of a pristine Alaskan forest.

Most people want the dried chunks because the quality and cleanliness is obvious. I also have course powder mixed with smaller pieces that brews a stronger tea.
