Canthaxanthin mainly used as animal feed additive to enhance the yellow-orange color of egg yolk. It is also used for coloring broiler skin. KEY BENEFITS AND CHARACTERISTICS Besides as a colorant,the biological functions of canthaxanthin are related, at least in part, to its ability to function as a lipid-soluble antioxidant (free radical scavenging/vitamin E sparing) in animal tissues. 1.
