    Penicillin G acylase (PGA, EC 3. 5. 1. *1) catalyzes the hydrolysis of penicillin G into *-aminopenicillanic acid (*-APA) and phenylacetic acid. It is also hydrolyses cephalosporin G into *-Amino**-methyl**-cephem**-carboxylic acid (*-ADCA). As *-APA and *-ADCA are the key intermediates in the production of semisynthetic β-lactam antibiotics, the enzyme is of great industrial interest. In addition, penicillin acylases can also be employed in other useful biotransformations, such as peptide synthesis and the resolution of racemic mixtures of chiral compounds.

    This product is immobilized penicillin acylase which is produced from Bacillus megaterium. After fermentation, isolation and purification, the dissociated enzyme is covalently crossed to porous particle polymers. The final product is very stable with enzyme activity ≥**0U/g (wet) and ≥**0U/g(dry powder). The optimum temperature is *5°C and optimum pH is 8.0.
